“I’ve discovered that it’s not necessary to follow the rules. I’m not talking about safety rules or physics rules. I’m talking about the rules and expectations we set for our personal and professional lives—“best practices” and “expert advice” that tell us how to do things, such as for how we should behave, communicate, interact, and appear, and even what we are to aspire to. I am an outlier and I’ve learned to create my own rules for living. Over time I’ve discovered my personal code that reflects my vision and the qualities that distinguish me.”
